“Give a girl the right shoes phone and she can conquer the world.” – Marilyn Monroe (kinda)
A stylish mobile phone has become a required fashion accessory, and Samsung sure are confident of their fashion credentials. And fair play, they make pretty shiny things. But they’re confident in a whole new way – to the point that they’ve taken the Galaxy S4 on the road to a pair of the most exclusive, extremely swanky events of recent days to show off the phone… specifically the camera.
Hitting up the Vogue-hosted 2013 Met Gala, the annual ball celebrating the opening of the Met Museums fashion exhibition at the Costume Institute, journo Kim Taylor Bennett accessorises her Galaxy S4 with a stunning Marc Jacobs dress (the phone’s the focus piece of the outfit, ok? The dress is an accessory to it.) to pap some of the biggest celebs in the fashion-wearing world. It’s pretty damn cool the way the S4, and it’s Drama Shot feature, can handle the hecticness (my spellcheck wants to change hecticness to “chicness” and I really want to allow it) of the red carpet.
“Dress shabbily and they remember the dress; dress impeccably and they remember the woman phone” – Coco Chanel (kinda)
As ever with these things, one red carpet leads to another, and Kim’s at it again… moving onto the Premiere of The Great Gatsby. I don’t know about you, but I’d call this one more glamorous than the Punk show at the Met. Gatsby’s got some real swag going on. 1920’s style fitted suits! Quaffed hair! A Lana Del Rey soundtrack!
“Life is much more successfully looked at from a single window” – F.Scott Fitzgerald “The Great Gatsby” (actual quote, no foolin’)
The Galaxy S4 is Kim’s window. Her observatory even, giving her a fresh view on the stars themselves. Here’s one highlight – look out for the GIF of director Baz Luhrmann waving intriguingly at the camera. Also, while Kim Taylor Bennett may be a fashion icon and glamour role model, she is not a role model of GIF pronunciation.
We’ll forgive any woman who can play on her phone and still overshadow Carey Mulligan though. After all, let’s not forget the (actual) words of YSL himself:
“Fashions fade, style is eternal” – Yves Saint-Laurent
